      Basically, the choosing of powered conveyors which depends on the peculiarity of the goods and the application of the system is the same as that of the gravity conveyors. As for goods with deformed surfaces, belt conveyor is the only choice. In terms of goods like cotton box and panel, chain conveyors and roller conveyors can be used. As for applications like interval controlling, storing and releasing and precision positioning, belt conveyor is always used. Powered roller conveyor is always used for heavy goods and the sorting and storing of the goods.2.1 powered chain conveyor.

Powered chain conveyor

       Powered chain conveyor can be used to unit loading goods like panel and plastic box and also the transporting of goods of other shapes through supporting panel. According to the change of the added spare parts, powered chain conveyors can generate different application patterns such as sliding pattern, pushing pole pattern, rolling pattern, pushing panel pattern and also pushing piece pattern. As for the application in the logistic centers, sliding and rolling are the two main patterns.

      (1) sliding chain conveyors Sliding chain conveyor uses chain directly to load goods. And the panels of the two sides slide directly on the supporting rail. Due to the weight of the goods, the chain will create large friction force with the sliding rail so the rail must use materials with low fiction date. It is suitable for low weight loading and short-distance transportation. The chain of sliding chain conveyor has simple structure and is easy to maintain and of low cost but it produces many noises and causes a lot of power. What’s more, it is not suitable for heavy loadings. As a result, it is gradually replaced by rolling chain conveyors.

      (2) Rolling Chain Conveyer ?Rolling chain conveyer uses an additional carrying roller per mesh relatively higher on the basis of loading chain to convey goods. The chain slides together with the roller rolling (drawing 3-20). Due to the fact that the roller on the chain touches the track while rolling, the frictional resistance as well as the kinetic loss is thus low and heavy load is possible. The loading capacity is related to the support strength, chain and roller size and the material. Normally the roller is of steel, however, the anti-wear engineering plastic may be adopted to lower noise under certain circumstance.

In addition, sliding and rolling are likely to occur because of goods accumulation under conveying between roller loading goods and bearing plate. That is, under normal conveying, the friction occurs between the bearing plate loading goods and bearing roller; however, with the conveying of chain goes on, wheelspin of the roller resulted from the slide between the aforementioned two would occur once the piling on the bearing plate reaches the extremity. The chain then moves on, thus the sectional storage is possible without shut down the conveyer.
